    Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) takes part in Meri Mati Mera Desh event.

    Leh, Aug 17, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) along with First Lady Smt Neelam Mishra took part in the Meri Mati Mera Desh event held at Astroturf Stadium near Spituk. Tribute will be paid to the ‘Veers’ who laid down their lives for the country in this nation-wide campaign to be held till 30th August.
    Speaking on the occasion, the HLG stated that the Meri Mati Mera Desh programme is being organised on a grand scale across the country to pay tribute to the Bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the nation and to express our indebtedness to the martyrs who ‘gave their today for our tomorrow.’ He stated that this campaign is the brainchild of Shri Narendra Modi ji to pay tribute to the Bravehearts and to promote national integrity.
    Stating that India is paying tribute to the martyrs, which no other country is doing, the HLG stated that organising such events is a moment of pride for the people of India. Calling the youth the future of India, the HLG advised the Ladakhi youth to assimilate good thoughts and actions and work for the welfare of the people of Ladakh to take the Ladakhi society and country ahead. He wished for the success of the Amrit Kalash Yatra in which soil from all corners of the country will be carried in 7,500 Kalash (containers) to create an ‘Amrit Vatika’ in Delhi symbolising the commitment to ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
    The HLG inaugurated the Shilaphalakam (memorial plaque) commemorating the Bravehearts (Veers) who laid down their lives for the country. He felicitated the Bravehearts of Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) who laid down their lives for the country and distributed gifts to the next of kin of Shri Abdul Rashid, Shri Lobzang Chhiring, Shri Ishey Tundup, Shri Tashi Raftan, Shri Tsering Dorje and Shri Chhering Angchok.
    The HLG also took part in the Tiranga Rally along with district officials and school students.
    Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, highlighted the importance of the event which features programmes like the establishment of Shilaphalakams dedicated to freedom fighters and security forces, initiatives like Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, Veeron ka Vandan to venerate the gallant sacrifices of the Bravehearts. Paying tribute to the martyrs, he stated that the Ladakhi soil is special as the people of Ladakh fought valiantly with the Indian Army against the enemy forces in many wars.
    Secretary, Rural Development Department, Shri Amit Sharma, highlighted the administrative achievements of the Department, including the erection of Shilaphalakams, taking pledge of Panch Pran, plantation drive under Vasudha Vandan, hoisting of National Flag and distribution of more than 15,000 National Flags, sports activities at different levels, collection of soil from different parts of Ladakh for the creation of Amrit Vatika, etc.
    The officials and students took the pledge of the Panch Pran on the occasion. Artists from Ladakh performed during the event.
    Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhdeve, welcomed the guests while Assistant Commissioner Development, Leh, Shri Sonam Norbu gave the vote of thanks.
    Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; ADGP Ladakh Police, Dr SD Singh Jamwal; Secretary, RDD, Shri Amit Sharma; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhdeve; SSP Leh, Smt PD Nitya; ASP Leh, Smt Shruti Arora; students from different school; personnel from Ladakh Police, ITBP and Indian Army and NCC cadets were present during the event.
