Iconic Week celebrated in sub-division Kharu
Leh, October 27: Celebration of the ‘Iconic Week’ took place today in Kharu sub-division with numerous programmes and great zeal as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration at Conference Hall, Kharu.
The programme commenced with Jal Jeevan awareness by PHE Department through Implementing Support Agency. While, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kharu, Gurmet Namgyal briefed the gathering about the importance and issuance procedure of Resident Certificate by the Revenue department and the required documents. He also spoke about the Special Summary Revision Camp awareness conducted by the Revenue department.
Pharmacist, Tashi Phunstog from Health Department spoke on the importance of the Golden Card scheme under the Ayushman Bharat and urged the public to register themselves for the same and avail of the benefits for medical treatment.
Horticulture Development Officer, Mohammed Ali briefed about the various schemes and awareness programmes organised for the development of horticulture, including training and assistance on plantation, storage, marketing. He also spoke about the different subsidies provided by the horticulture department.
Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), ICDS Project Kharu, Zarina Bano spoke on gender equality and highlighted the issues of domestic violence and its forms, female foeticide, and other grave issues that women face in a male-dominated society.
She highlighted the central government schemes, such as Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna (PMMVY) and Beti Bachao Beti Padao Yojana focused on empowering women and girl-child.
Addressing the issue of malnutrition, CDPO Kharu briefed on POSHAN Abhiyaan, an initiative by the government to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. She elaborated on special schemes offered by ICDS to pregnant women in collaboration with different departments.
Special camp for issuance of resident certificates was also organised at the event.
Naib Tehsildar, Kharu; Block Development Officer, Kharu; the heads of various departments; Sarpanch and the villagers also attended the event.
