Indian Men’s Ice Hockey Team calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, 27 February 2025: The Indian men’s ice hockey team, which recently took part in the Asian Winter Games at Harbin, China, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lt Governor’s Secretariat.
The unranked Indian men’s ice hockey team played four matches in the event against higher-ranked teams, winning one match against Macau.
The HLG lauded the team’s performance and encouraged them to strive for even greater achievements in future competitions. He emphasised the need for enhancing ice hockey management in the region. He highlighted the need for an Ice Hockey Federation with affiliation to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for proper management of the game and promotion of players from Ladakh.
The HLG stated that the Ice Hockey Federation should be Ladakh-based and run by locals for better management of Ice hockey sports. The HLG also stressed the importance of improving the standards of ice hockey in Ladakh and urged the team to mentor future generations of players from the region to help them excel in major competitions.
Furthermore, the HLG assured the team that UT Administration would work on finalising the Sports Policy to provide sports quotas in jobs for eligible/qualified sportspersons from Ladakh.
Earlier, the team expressed their gratitude to the HLG for his unwavering support in facilitating their participation in the international event and requested for sports quota in government jobs.
