Instructors from ITI, Work Supervisor aspirants & ex-servicemen from LSRC, SFF call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, Nov 14, 2023: A delegation comprising instructors from Industrial Training Institute (ITI) led by Shri Jigmat Namgyal and Shri Ajaz Ahmed called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at LG Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and OSD to Commissioner Secretary, Technical Education, Shri Abid Hussain, were also in the meeting.
Shri Jigmat and Shri Ajaz informed the HLG that they have been teaching at ITI Leh for the last 10 years. They also informed that they were initially paid an honorarium/salary of Rs 15,000 which was later increased to Rs 20,000 per month. They highlighted the need to hike their salaries keeping the inflation and high cost of living in mind.
Shri Abid apprised the HLG of the engagement of instructors in 2011 under the PPP scheme and an Institute Management Committee (IMC) was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the ITI under the Scheme. He informed that guest faculty who teach at it is are paid an honorarium of Rs 25,500 per month and the proposal to bring the honorarium/salary of instructors at it is at par with the guest faculty can be discussed in the next IMC meeting.
The HLG instructed Shri Abid to raise the issue in the next IMC meeting so that the instructors get the same salary/honorarium as the guest faculty.
A delegation comprising candidates, who appeared for the post of Work Supervisor conducted by DSSRB Leh, led by Smt Stanzin Yangzom called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and Deputy Secretary, Shri Zakir Hussain, were present in the meeting.
Smt Yangzom informed the HLG that they cleared the examinations conducted by DSSRB Leh for the post of Work Supervisor. She also informed that they were informed that the course done by them through Kissan Institute of Technology (KIT), Jammu is not recognised by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and State Council for Vocational Training.
Deputy Secretary, Shri Zakir informed the HLG that a clarification has been sought from NCVT to ascertain if the course done by the aspiring candidates from KIT Jammu is recognised by them. He also informed that the aspiring candidates would be considered for the post if the course is recognised by NCVT.
The HLG instructed Deputy Resident Commissioner, Ladakh, Smt Sonam Chhosdon to contact officials from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship so that they could provide clarification regarding the issue at the earliest so that a decision can be taken in this regard.
A delegation comprising Ex-Servicemen from Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) and Special Frontier Forces (SFF) led by the Director, Rajya Sainik Board, Ladakh, Col Lobzang Nima (Retd), called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Nima informed the HLG that both ex-servicemen from LSRC and SFF have unanimously agreed to come together under a single umbrella so that they could avail benefits of all welfare schemes for ex-servicemen altogether. He also informed that there are more than 6000 ex-servicemen from LSRC and more than 400 ex-servicemen from SFF residing in Ladakh.
Commending both LSRC and SFF for the decision, the HLG instructed Col Nima to assess the needs of the ex-servicemen of both LSRC and SFF, the funds available to the Rajya Sainik Board and the welfare schemes of the central government for the ex-servicemen that could be extended to them.
