Inter-school competition held at GMS Goma Minjee.
Kargil, Sept 04, 2024: An inter-school competition on speech, essay writing, drawing, storytelling, spelling and handwriting was held successfully today at Govt. Middle School Goma, Minjee.
The event was organized by GMS Goma Minjee in collaboration with Councillor Baroo-Minjee Constituency. All government schools within the constituency participated in the event.
Executive Councillor Education, LAHDC, Kargil, Zakir Hussain; CEO Kargil S.D. Namgial; Councillor Baroo-Minjee Constituency, Adv Khadim Hussain; Principal DIET, Abdul Qayoom; Former Councillor Baroo-Minjee Shiekh Minjee; as well as members of Village Education Committee, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), and staff and students from various schools were present.
In his address, EC Zakir Hussain praised the Councillor for initiating such an event that provided a valuable platform for students. He urged that similar competitions should be organized in different schools across various constituencies to explore and nurture the talents of students. He also highlighted the various initiatives taken under the CEC LAHDC Kargil to provide the best possible education to students.
Emphasising his commitment to education, he shared that he has adopted four schools in his constituency and expressed his admiration for the confidence displayed by the students.
He extended gratitude to the VEC and the local community for their support and assured continued support from the Council for such initiatives.
CEO Kargil, S.D. Namgial began his speech with the quote, “Child is the father of man,” expressing how much he had learned from the event. He emphasized the importance of conducting similar programs in other schools to further encourage student participation.
Councillor, Baroo -Minjee Constituency Adv. Khadim Hussain thanked the staff of all Middle Schools and High Schools of his constituency for their cooperation in making the event successful and to inspire students for such programs. He hoped to organise such program in future.
Principal DIET, Abdul Qayoom, also addressed the gathering, motivating students to actively participate in such programs.
Earlier, Former Councillor, Shiekh Minjee presented a memorandum of demands, including the reconstruction of the old school building, ground leveling, fencing, and the installation of a submersible pump. In response, the EC Education assured that these demands would be addressed at the earliest.
Later, prizes were distributed to the students who excelled in different categories, recognising their talent and hard work.
