Joint Secretary MoHUA reviews implementation of centrally sponsored schemes of MoHUA in Ladakh
Leh, Aug 26: Joint Secretary, Incharge of National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA), Sanjay Kumar chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes of MoHUA in UT Ladakh.
Joint Secretary, Sanjay Kumar appreciated the efforts of UT of Ladakh in successful implementation of PM SVANidhi scheme and advised the UT Administration for early notification of Street Vending Rules. He also advised the vendors for early payment of loans which would make them eligible for doubling their credit limit.
Earlier, Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Ajeet Kumar Sahu apprised about the status and progress of various centrally sponsored schemes and the issues faced in its smooth implementation owing to lack of manpower and field specific expertise, and the need of capacity building mechanisms and training for the officers and officials.
Director, H&UDD, Dr Zahida Bano gave a briefing to the Joint Secretary, MoHUA about the status of NULM and its various components, such as Social Mobilisation and Institution Development (SM&ID), Employment through Skills Training and Placement (EST&P), Capacity Building and Training (CBT), Self- Employment Programme (SEP), Scheme of Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH), Support to Urban Street Vendors (SUSV) and Smart City projects being implemented in both Leh and Kargil districts of UT Ladakh. She explained that after the formation of new UT of Ladakh all state level institutions are required to be set up afresh for implementing these schemes for which a necessary process has been initiated.
Joint Secretary, Sanjay Kumar impressed upon to complete the required formalities early to fast track the implementation. He also assured that all the issues concerning Ladakh highlighted in the meeting would be considered at MoHUA at the earliest and all support to the UT would be extended. He also advised the UT officers to collaborate with Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Centres (RCUES) for handholding and capacity building training in Ladakh.
He directed the concerned officers to set up early the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU) and City Mission Management Unit (CMMU) as it would streamline the implementation of the schemes.
Director, Urban Local Bodies, Ladakh; Joint Director, Planning, UT Ladakh; Deputy Secretary, Housing and Urban Development; UT Ladakh, Chief Planning Officer, Leh and Kargil, Executive Engineers, CPWD; Executive Officer, Kargil were also present during the meeting.
