    Joint Secretary MoRD Smriti Sharan visits Drass, interacts with newly formed SHG members, reviews LRLM works.

    Kargil, Sep 07, 2023: Joint Secretary, NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), GoI, Smriti Sharan, and Director of RD&PRD Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zabdavi, accompanied by the NMMU, NRLM team, as part of two-day visit to Kargil, today visit Drass block to interact with the recently formed Self-Help Group (SHG) members and assess the progress of LRLM initiatives in the district.
    During the visit, ACD Kargil, Ghulam Mohd, UT Anchor NRLM Ladakh, Dr Vasuda Shukla, National Mission Manager IBCB, OM Prakash, National Mission Manager farm livelihood NMMU, Jai Ram, BDC Drass, Noor Mohammad, BDC Bhimbat, Najima Bano, Panches, Sarpanches, SPM LRLM, Tsering Dolker and Ankush, DPM, DMM, BPM and MIS of LRLM Kargil, members of newly formed SHGs under LRLM Kargil and others were present.
    The Joint Secretary while addressing the members of newly formed SHGs expressed happiness over the huge participation of the SHG members.
    Smriti Sharan directed the NRLM team to recognize that the SHGs in the area are in their early stages, emphasizing the need to commence their work with commitment right from the beginning.
    She encouraged SHG members to leverage the support of the NRLM team and advised them to prioritize savings, which will prove beneficial in the long term.
    During his address, the Director RD&PRD Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zabdavi, expressed the department’s commitment to providing technical support to SHG members. He added that the department will offer training facilities to empower rural women in the region.
    The ACD noted that there is significant potential in the area for black Zera, mushrooms, fisheries, and more. During the event, in addition to the Block Development Councils (BDCs), various other speakers also discussed the advantages of LRLM.
    He also emphasised to technological intervention for local forest products in Rural Villages for SHG VO and CLF so that value addition in all sectors may achieve in time bound period.
    During the event, the Joint Secretary, Director RD&PR and others interacted with SHG members and cleared their doubts regarding the LRLM in the district.
