Leh, August 10: The Forest Art Festival, organized by Wall Art Projects, Japan in collaboration with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, was inaugurated today in Matho village. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, who presided as the chief guest, and the Hon’ble Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel, who attended as the guest of honor.
The ceremony commenced with a traditional reception at Matho Monastery, followed by an exhibition showcasing the vibrant artworks created by Japanese and Ladakhi artists. The festival attracted a large gathering of local residents, artists, and visitors.
The festival’s coordinator, Hamao, provided an in-depth overview of the projects, emphasizing the profound impact of art on local communities and its role in fostering cultural exchange.
In his address, CEC Tashi Gyalson commended both Japanese and Ladakhi artists for their exceptional contributions and the beautiful display of their work. He highlighted the significance of their efforts in enriching cultural heritage and promoting tourism within the region. Gyalson also praised the artists’ commitment to sustainable development.
Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel, highlighted the importance of the festival and expressed gratitude to the organizers and community members for their dedication in making the event a success.
The festivities continued with the inauguration of the Forest Art Land plantation site by CEC Gyalson. The event concluded with a lively cultural performance by local villagers and a captivating handpan dance performed by a Japanese artist, adding a unique and enchanting touch to the celebration.
