MC-Kargil’s operations in full swing amid snowfall.
Kargil, Dec 28, 2024: In the wake of a heavy spell of snowfall in Kargil Town starting last night, the Municipal Committee of Kargil (MCK) promptly deployed men and machinery to clear roads and lanes for smooth movement of traffic and to ensure the convenience of public.
Working vigilantly, the MCK team initiated snow-clearing operations early in the morning. Sincere attempts were made to ensure that essential services are not affected in the entire municipal area. No critical location was therefore left untouched. Additionally, adequate quantity of soil was spread on the roads after clearing the snow in order to prevent slippage of vehicles.
The Executive Officer, MCK, Arifa Iqbal Lone, personally visited various locations with her team and took stock of the operations. She passed instructions to clear all the roads by the evening today.
On the other hand, the Administrator, Imteeaz Kacho, constantly kept assessing the situation and sought regular feedback from the team and passed necessary instructions. In respect of the areas from Iqbal Bridge towards Baroo and beyond, he passed instructions to NHIDCL for quick snow clearance for smooth movement of traffic.
Kacho directed the MCK team to remain alert and on standby to face any eventuality. He further directed that the machinery should be kept in readiness.
