    Kargil, Nov 05, 2024: Member of Parliament (MP) for Ladakh, Haji Mohmad Hanifa, paid an official visit to Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh on Monday.
    He was warmly received by Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration of Kargil Campus, alongside Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan, Dean of Arts and Social Sciences, and the coordinators of various departments.
    As part of his visit, the MP toured multiple departments across the campus, during which Dr. Mehboob Ali apprised him of pressing infrastructural issues, particularly within the Humanities and Natural Sciences Block. Dr. Mehboob explained that due to some issues several facilities remain incomplete, compelling the university to conduct classes in temporary, makeshift arrangements.
    Following the tour, Haji Mohmad Hanifa attended a briefing and interactive session with campus officials and faculty members. The session commenced with a formal welcome by Dr. Mohd Taqi, Coordinator of the Department of Geography, who extended greetings to the MP, Registrar of the University of Ladakh, Nawang Tundup, and all attending faculty and staff.
    In a gesture of traditional Ladakhi hospitality, Nawang Tundup and Dr. Mehboob Ali presented Haji Mohmad Hanifa with a khatak, symbolizing respect and cultural warmth, while Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan offered a welcome khatak to the Registrar, Nawang Tundup. Proceeding further, Dr. Mehboob Ali delivered an extensive presentation on the Kargil Campus. His presentation encompassed the campus’s vision, its academic programs, research initiatives, and the current infrastructural status.
    Emphasizing the campus’s infrastructural challenges, he highlighted the ongoing reliance on makeshift arrangements, which significantly impacts daily operations. At the conclusion of his presentation, Dr. Mehboob submitted a memorandum of essential demands to the MP, which included requests for the construction of a conference hall, provision of an electric bus for transportation, an ambulance, and a battery bank to enhance the solar plant’s power backup.
    In his subsequent address, Nawang Tundup, Registrar of the University of Ladakh, formally welcomed the MP to the campus. He provided an update on significant infrastructural developments within the university, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to advancing facilities across both its Kargil and Leh campuses. He also expressed optimism regarding the recruitment of permanent staff to support the university’s growth and ensure continuity in its mission to provide quality education.
    Concluding the meeting, MP Haji Mohmad Hanifa expressed his sincere appreciation to the campus officials and faculty for the warm reception and hospitality. He commended the Kargil Campus, and the University of Ladakh as a whole, for achieving substantial progress since its establishment in 2019.
    In response to the memorandum, he announced his approval of a dedicated Ambulance for the campus, assuring that provisions would be arranged promptly. Regarding the additional items in the memorandum, the MP pledged to raise these issues with relevant ministries and departments to expedite their resolution.
    The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mohd Taqi. In his closing remarks, Haji Mohmad Hanifa expressed his ongoing commitment to supporting educational advancement in Ladakh, particularly through infrastructure improvements, and assured the university community of his continued involvement to address pressing needs.
