New District Committee holds Meeting with Religious Leaders and Women Representatives of Leh District. Leh, November 7, 2024: The New District Committee convened a meeting with Head of various religious organizations and their women counterparts at DC Office Conference Hall on November 7. Chaired by Sh. Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retd.) the committee assesses the establishment of five new districts in Ladakh, alongside with members Sh. Kacho Asfandyar Khan, IAS (Retd.), Sh. Tsering Angchok, IAS (Retd.), and the Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve (ex-officio). During the meeting, stakeholders presented their views, suggestions and recommendations to the New District Committee. Concerns included allocation of funds, jobs, land in terms of population and area. Nambardars from Nimo, Basgo, Taru recommended to keep these areas in Leh District.
Representation from women emphasized to consider the geographical, cultural and traditional aspects and ensures that no minority should suffer in any district. They also advocated to keep women representatives in loop during important meetings and to keep reservation for women and to have better scopes of education in UT Ladakh.
Chairman NDC Pramod Jain assured stakeholders of a rational and professional report considering all the parameters such as Geography, Distance, Location, Cultural aspects, Population, Administration arrangements and requirements for upgradation.
The meeting was attended by President LBA Tsering Dorjey Lakrook, President Anjuman Imamia Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman Moin-ul Islam Dr Abdul Qayum, President Christian Association Sonam Parvez, BJP State General Secretary PT Kunzang, District President INC Rigzin Namgyal, Vice Convenor AAP Tashi Angchok, Nambardar New Settlement, Nambardar Basgo, Nambardar Nimo, Nambardar Taru and other members and representatives.
Vice President LBA Women Wing Kunzes Dolma, President Anjuman Imamia Women Wing Nasreen Maryam, President Anjuman Moin-ul Islam Women Wing Aisha Malo, President Women Wing Christian Association Sunita Dana were prominently present among women.
