Panamik & Tiger councillors discuss steps to mitigate surging Covid cases in Nubra valley with DC Leh
Leh, May 20: Councillor, Panamik, Tsering Sangdup and Councillor, Tiger (Kyagar), Rigzin Lhundup, today met Deputy Commissioner (DC), Leh, Shrikant Suse, during his visit to Nubra to inspect Covid preparedness in the valley.
The LAHDC councillors discussed various issues and steps to mitigate the surge in Covid cases in the valley with DC Leh. They deliberated upon establishing Covid Care Centres/ institutional quarantine centres at the village level with the required facilities, including oxygen concentrators, cylinders, medicines and other essentials.
The Councillors requested DC Leh to increase the Covid surveillance and the contact tracing mechanisms in the villages. They also appealed to DC Leh to ensure a steady supply of essential commodities and goods in the containment zones through home delivery to avoid flouting of containment rules.
The Councillors and DC Leh also discussed the existing medical establishments such as Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Panamik, New-Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Tiger and Sumoor and the medical sub-centres (MSC) present in the region. The councillors requested for early upgradation of required facilities and filling up of vacant posts.
