    President, NMOPS-led delegation, Nambardar Akhow and Tacha and Parveen Fatima from Kargil call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd)

    Leh, Feb 01, 2024: A delegation led by President, National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS), Shri Ahmad Hussain called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Lieutenant Governor Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Director, Finance, Ladakh, Dr Safdar Ali, IRS were present in the meeting. Shri Ahmad Hussain apprised the HLG about several demands including the conversion of the New Pension Scheme into the Old Pension Scheme in Ladakh UT, gratuity for the retired NPS employees and reactivation of the GP Fund account for NPS employees of Ladakh UT. The HLG instructed Director, Finance, Ladakh, Dr Safdar Ali, IRS, to issue a notification regarding the grant of gratuity benefits for retired NPS employees.
    Nambardar, Akshow Zanskar Shri Lobzang Yontan, called on the HLG at LG Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Shri Abdul Mutalib were present in the meeting.
    Shri Lobzang apprised the HLG about various demands including the sanctioning of a new administrative block for Stoth area, approval for a Community Health Centre at Stoth area, construction of Akshow-Paddar road, construction of Patum Lungpa to Akshow irrigation canal, construction of civil helipad at Stoth area and construction of Akhshow-Paddar Trekking Route. The HLG directed Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh to prepare a preliminary project report for the construction of Akshow-Paddar Road. He requested Shri Lobzang to provide the land for the construction of a helipad at Stoth area and encouraged the local community to identify a trekking route from Akshow to Paddar.
    Nambardar from Tacha, Kargil, Shri Akhon Sadiq, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Sadiq raised several issues, viz. the construction of water storage/protection dams, the posting of doctors at the Medical Aid Centre, Karit; required assistance for their cattle, etc. Shri Sadiq also informed that he also works as sweeper-cum-cook on a contractual basis at the Govt Middle School and requested to enhance his salary.
    The HLG asked Shri Ravinder, IAS, to invite a proposal from LAHDC Kargil regarding the assistance required for the cattle and the construction of water storage dams. He also stated that a committee has been formed to look into the issue of enhancement of remuneration of contractual workers/daily wagers.
    Smt Parveen Fatima from Kargil called on the HLG at LG Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS were present in the meeting. Smt Fatima apprised the HLG that she has been a cardiac patient since childhood and underwent heart surgery in 2018. She was informed about the passing away of her father and the doctor’s recommendation for an annual check-up at Apollo Hospital, Delhi. Smt Fatima requested the HLG to appoint her on an outsourced basis as a humanitarian ground to help cover the financial aspects for her treatment. The HLG directed DC Kargil to examine the matter.
