Sarpanch Tarchit, NYC volunteers & ICDS Watch and Ward worker call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
Leh, Nov 11, 2023: A delegation from Tarchit village led by its Sarpanch, Shri Phunchok Nurboo, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Phunchok requested the HLG for the installation of LiFi service in the village for high-speed internet connectivity. He also requested the installation of a zipline in the village so that pilgrims could visit the village due to the presence of centuries-old caves where Guru Padmasambhava performed meditation.
Shri Phunchok also requested for the promotion of tourism activities in the village so that the villagers can reap its benefits for income generation. He informed the HLG about the building of ice stupas and ice walls for climbing during the winter months which could be major attractions for tourists in the winter.
The HLG informed Shri Phunchok that necessary steps will be taken to improve telecommunication connectivity in Ladakh and unconnected villages will be covered by mobile towers.
A delegation from National Youth Corps (NYC) led by Shri Ajaz Hussain called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Secretary to the HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.
Shri Ajaz apprised the HLG of the National Youth Corps scheme introduced in the erstwhile state of J&K under which youth were engaged for national building and the volunteers were paid an honorarium of Rs 5000 per month. He informed that more than 100 youth from Ladakh were engaged under the NYC scheme who are still working in various departments.
Shri Ajaz requested enhancement of honorarium along with their regularisation.
The HLG stated that a committee has been constituted to look into the issues raised by contractual employees and daily wagers. He instructed Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, to inquire about the report submitted by the committee and also to seek legal opinion on the report before necessary actions are taken based on the findings of the committee.
Smt Bano, a Watch and Ward worker at ICDS Centre, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Smt Padma Angmo, IIS and Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Smt Bano informed about salary issues and requested the HLG’s intervention.
The HLG instructed Smt Padma to examine the issue and submit a report.
