SBM-Grameen: RD&PRD organizes IEC, behaviour change communication regarding solid waste management at Taisuru.

Kargil, May 16, 2023:
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD), Kargil under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin phase-II today organized an Information Education and Communication (IEC) and behaviour change communication program at Purtikchey village of Taisuru Block.
District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Kargil, Padma Angmo, BDC Chairperson, Taisuru Block, Amina Banoo, BDO Taisuru, Ruksar Ahmad Shah, District Coordinator (SWM), Mohd Toha Qadire, PRI members and villagers of Purtikchey participated in the program.
On the occasion the DPO Kargil sensitized and motivated the villagers to achieve the ODF model status by end of this year. She talked about the objective of Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen phase-II and sought the cooperation and support of villagers in making the village surroundings hygienic.
The DPO also talked about the role of primary segregators/households in solid and liquid waste management. She instructed the villagers not to mix the dry and liquid waste so that secondary segregation becomes easy.
While explaining the dry, wet waste and its separation at the primary level, BDC Taisuru said it is the responsibility of every citizen to clean the surroundings and maintain the environment.
The BDO Taisuru elaborated about the need to adopt a system of periodical cleanings, maintenance and initiation of preventive measures for containing diseases.
The BDO also talked about the difference between solid and liquid waste and segregation process thereof. He instructed the villagers to use dustbins for dry waste collection to make the environment pollution free.
The officials of the department sought public cooperation to make the mission successful.
Later, the DPO along with officials of RD&PRD Kargil visited Karpokhar village to sensitize public about environment cleaning and implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen phase-II in the village.
