Science lecturers & NYC members call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, March 1, 2025: A delegation comprising Science lecturers of School Education Department led by Nawaz Ali called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS and Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin were present in the meeting.
The delegates informed the HLG that they belong to Kargil district and have been rendering their services in schools in Leh as Science lecturers for the past four years. They alleged that despite being eligible for inter-district transfer, no step has been taken in this regard.
Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar informed the HLG that lecturers are eligible for inter-district transfer only after the completion of four years. He also informed that the School Education Department is waiting for the transfer portal to become fully operational following which the transfer process would begin.
The HLG asked the lecturers to prioritise the studies of students and asked Principal Secretary to expedite the transfer process.
A delegation comprising members of National Youth Corps (NYC) called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Principal Secretary, Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS and Director, Finance, Dr Safdar Ali, IRS, were present in the meeting.
The delegates informed the HLG that they are rendering services in different capacities in government departments of Ladakh. They also informed about being left out of the list of 1900 contractual/daily-rated employees whose salaries would be enhanced by the UT Administration after getting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs. They further informed us about being paid a monthly salary of Rs 2500 and requested his intervention to enhance their salaries.
The HLG informed the delegates about instructions passed by him to government officials to constitute a committee for the employees left out of the list to look into their issues. Highlighting the need to pay decent wages to all the employees, the HLG stated that the committee’s recommendations would be studied and sent to MHA for approval.
