Secretary Education chairs first sub-committee meeting to review implementation of New Education Policy 2020
Leh, July 27: Secretary, Higher Education Department, UT-Ladakh, Padma Angmo today, chaired the first meeting of the Sub-Committee on Higher Education for implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in UT Ladakh.
During the meeting, discussion was taken up on agenda items that included specific measures needed, academic & training requirements, manpower and financial requirement and structural reforms needed for implementation of the NEP 2020 in UT of Ladakh. Also, a discussion was held on procedural and policy changes that need to be made in achieving the objectives of NEP-2020.
Secretary, Padma Angmo shared that the Ministry of Education has sought the recommendation and action plan from the Administration of Ladakh. Furthermore, she highlighted that as per the NEP 2020 objective, Gross enrolment ratio should be 50% by 2035 and the inclusion of Socio-economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs), for which a comprehensive action plan needs to be chalked out.
In view of discussion regarding the introduction of vocational education in Higher Education as per NEP 2020, the sub-committee decided that the constituent colleges will chalk out the possible vocational courses that can be taken up with SKUAST so that the same can be introduced in the constituent colleges in the current academic year.
