Surprise inspection of market held at Padum.

Kargil, June 02, 2023:
Food Safety DFCO, Police, CA&PD Department on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection at Padum, Zanskar market to ensure the availability of safe and quality food products.
The team inspected shops selling food items such as vegetables, fruits, meat, chicken, dairy products and packaged foods.
During the inspection, the team emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the shops.
The market checking squad warned shopkeepers against selling adulterated or substandard food products and informed them about the penalties for such activities.
More than 13 food business operators were fined under Section 56, 55 etc. of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and an amount of Rs 30,000 was recovered through compounding. More than 700 kgs of expired items were destroyed.
