‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign -2024: MC Kargil organizes waste-to-art exhibition
Kargil, Sept 23, 2024: Municipal Committee Kargil today organized a waste-to-art exhibition as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign -2024 at MC-Yard,Kargil.
The event was aimed at transforming waste material into creative artworks, thereby raising public awareness about waste management and environmental sustainability. The event also featured a display of junk art that showcased innovative uses for discarded materials.
Administrator, MC-Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho along with Executive Officer ,MC-Kargil, Razia Khatoon and other officials inspected stalls set up by various schools, MC-Kargil, Team Stringmo and Self Help Groups (SHG).The stalls displayed innovative artworks made from waste materials.
While speaking on the occasion, the Administrator, MC-Kargil,Imteeaz Kacho praised the innovative artworks created by students, expressing happiness at their creative use of waste material and commended the participants for their efforts.
Kacho stated that the primary objective of the programme is to inspire and encourage people to turn waste into art instead of discarding it. He hoped the event would effectively convey the message to people regarding the noble cause. He urged the participants and the public in general to carry their own bags from home while visiting the market for purchasing items. Further, Kacho informed the gathering about the events and activities of MC-Kargil lined up in the run-up to Gandhi Jayanti.
On the occasion, Executive Officer,MC-Kargil, Razia Khatoon expressed her gratitude to all the participants for their involvement in the event. She encouraged the creative use of plastic and disposable waste to make art pieces and emphasized the importance of avoiding plastic bags. Further, he lauded the efforts of the staff of the Municipal Committee for their dedication towards keeping Kargil near and clean.
The event was also attended by officers and staff of Municipal Committee, students from different Government and private schools and others.
