SWD Kargil, ALIMCO organize Aids and Appliances distribution camp in Kargil under ADIP scheme of GoI .

Kargil, June 12, 2023: The Social Welfare Department Kargil in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) today organized a distribution camp of Aids and Appliances under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Scheme of the Government of India for specially-abled persons and senior citizens at Cultural Academy Hall, Kargil.
Executive Councilor Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mehdi Fazili attended the event as chief guest, the PO, ALIMCO, Dr Ashok Kumar Sahu, CDPO Kargil, Parveen Akhtar, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Kargil, Khairun Nissa, staff of the Social Welfare Department, ALIMCO team and other concerned attended the event.
While speaking on occasion the Executive Councilor appreciated the efforts of ALIMCO and the Social Welfare Department for easing the problems of specially-abled people and for extending hand-holding support to them regularly.
He reiterated that the concern of LAHDC Kargil is akin to the problems faced by specially-abled persons and assured them of every possible support.
At the outset, the PO ALIMCO, Dr Ashok Kumar Sahu said the scheme is aimed to assist the needy specially-abled persons by providing them durable, sophisticated, scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical, social, psychological rehabilitation of specially-abled persons by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.
Sahu informed that 480 appliances are be distributed to 258 beneficiaries which include the hearing aid, clutches, wheelchairs, CP chairs, artificial limbs and other appliances of Rs 20 lakh (approximately) in 4 blocks of the district.
He also informed that in the last week of April 2023, assessment camp was organized by the ALIMCO with the support of Social Welfare Department Kargil in four blocks of the district, which include Kargil, Sankoo, Shakar Chiktan and Zanskar.
During the assessment camp, the 258 beneficiaries were identified and in the short period of time the distribution process was initiated for the beneficiaries.
He said that it is for the first time that ALIMCO has organized the distribution camp in Kargil adding that ALIMCO is going to open Regional Rehabilitation Centre (RRC) in Kargil very soon with the support of the District Administration Kargil.
The CDPO Kargil, Parveen Akhtar highlighted the importance of organizing the camp besides disseminated information with regard to the measures taken by the government for the welfare of the specially-abled persons from time to time.
