Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Zanskar Convenes Meeting to Address Public Grievances

Zanskar, May 2, 2025 – The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Zanskar, convened a significant meeting on May 2, 2025, in response to multiple complaints received by the Chairman, TLSC, pertaining to issues of civic infrastructure and public services in the region. The meeting was organized under the aegis of TLSC and brought together Heads of Departments (HODs) and representatives from key departments to collaboratively address the concerns raised by local residents.
The meeting witnessed the presence of the In-Charge SDM, Junior Engineers from PWD, PDD, and R&B, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Block Development Officer (BDO), Station House Officer (SHO), President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association (ZBA), and the President of the Merchant Association, among others.
During the session, several public grievances submitted through formal complaints were discussed in detail. These included concerns over the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, inadequate parking facilities, traffic congestion, market sanitation, non-availability of student transport services, lack of inner transport buses, and safety hazards posed by an unfenced electrical transformer.
After thorough deliberations, the Incharge SDM committed to initiating immediate measures to identify and develop designated private parking zones in the town.
The BDO assured that a dumping truck would be deployed daily, if necessary, to maintain sanitation in the area.
The R&B department pledged to expedite pending tasks under the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure timely access to safe drinking water for all households.
The PDD committed to securing the unprotected electrical transformer at the earliest, prioritizing the safety of children and the general public.
The Presidents of the ZBA and the Merchant Association assured full cooperation with the concerned departments in maintaining cleanliness in the market areas.
The Chairman of TLSC underscored the significance of inter-departmental coordination and active community participation in addressing public grievances efficiently. The meeting concluded with strong commitments from all departments to implement the resolutions and ensure continued responsiveness to citizen concerns.
