UT Administration of Ladakh celebrates National Voter’s Day 2025
Leh, Jan 24, 2025: The Union Territory Administration of Ladakh proudly joined the rest of the country in celebrating National Voter’s Day 2025, reaffirming its dedication to the democratic process.
The celebration witnessed the active participation of Administrative Secretaries, Under Secretaries, Officers on Special Duty (OSDs), officials, and staff, who gathered to take the Voter’s Day pledge.
The pledge ceremony, held to inspire citizens to exercise their right to vote responsibly, was led by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kotwal highlighted the significance of National Voter’s Day in strengthening India’s democratic fabric. He spoke about the importance of voting as a fundamental right and duty in the democratic system of the Republic of India.
This year’s theme, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” was a call to action, emphasizing the crucial role of each vote in shaping the nation’s future. Dr. Kotwal urged all citizens to participate actively in elections, ensuring their voices are heard and their votes count.
The event was marked by enthusiastic participation, with attendees reflecting on their responsibilities as voters and reaffirming their commitment to upholding democratic values. The Administration of Ladakh expressed its continued dedication to creating awareness about the importance of voting and fostering an inclusive, participatory democracy.
National Voter’s Day is observed annually on January 25 to commemorate the founding of the Election Commission of India in 1950. It aims to encourage young voters to enrol and actively participate in the electoral process, ensuring the inclusivity and vibrancy of Indian democracy.
