Tourism Department Ladakh distributes home stay items to 30 beneficiaries in Zanskar

Kargil, Nov 16, 2024: Tourism Department, Ladakh under Homestay Policy-2023 on Friday distributed home stay items among 30 beneficiaries of Padum Constituency of LAHDC-Kargil nominated and verified by Committee and Councilors
The assets were distributed in presence of Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk; Tourist Officer Zanskar, Stanzin Khewang; BDO Zanskar, Tsewang Rigzin and ATO Kargil, Ghulam Rasool Lal. At the distribution ceremony, the ATO Kargil, Ghulam Rasool Lal showcased the items to SDM and other dignitaries.
While welcoming the guests and beneficiaries, Stanzin Khewang and Ghulam Rasool Lal urged the beneficiaries to use the items provided wisely for income generation and to enhance the experience of tourists visiting Zanskar Valley. They were also instructed to have their homestays ready and fully operational within a week.
On the occasion, the SDM advised the beneficiaries to operate their homestays in the style of Lahaul and Spiti, showcasing local traditions and cuisines to tourists. He appealed to them to contribute actively to the socio-economic development of the region.
The BDO Zanskar spoke about the importance of rural tourism in uplifting the local economy and promoting the tourism industry in rural areas of Zanskar.
He discussed the potential of religious, adventure, educational, and cultural tourism, urging beneficiaries to utilize the resources effectively. He emphasized showcasing Zanskar’s rich culture while ensuring a welcoming and comprehensive experience for tourists.
