    UoL launches 1st B.Sc. Agriculture Program at School of Agriculture Science and Technology Leh, Kargil Campuses
    Kargil, Sept 25, 2024: University of Ladakh has launched its first-ever B.Sc. Agriculture program at its newly established Agriculture Campuses in Leh and Kargil.
    The inaugural batch at the School of Agriculture Science and Technology (SAS&T) in Kargil commenced with a seven-day orientation program, Deekshaarambh, starting on September 17, 2024.
    Dr. Faizan Ahmad, Chief Scientist and Head of SAS&T, Kargil, introduced students to the course, emphasizing its broad scope and future opportunities in the field of agriculture.
    The orientation featured a series of expert-led lectures covering various disciplines within agriculture, aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of the field.
    In addition to classroom learning, students were given exposure to hands-on agricultural practices through visits to the university’s experimental fields and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Kargil.
    Dr. Nazir Hussain, briefed students about the center’s role and mandate, and led them through various demonstration blocks showcasing local agricultural and horticultural crops. The aim was to familiarize students with regional agricultural practices and enhance their practical knowledge.
    Engineer Ahmed Ali, a leading agripreneur and founder of the agriculture startup “LOGIC,” provided insights into the commercial aspects of agriculture, discussing the future of agribusiness and entrepreneurship in the field.
    Students also visited mushroom and apricot processing units in Goma Kargil and Kharul, gaining valuable exposure to specialized training and skill development in agriculture.
