Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh maiden visit to Government Degree College Nobra.

Nubra, March 15, 2025: Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha accompanied by Registrar, University of Ladakh, Nawang Tundup paid a maiden visit to Government Degree College Nobra on 15th March 2025. This is Prof. Kushwaha’s first official visit to the institution since he assumed office, where he engaged and interacted with the faculty, staff and students. Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Dr. Vaishali Kushwaha, Registrar Nawang Tundup went on a campus tour, surveying the college campus, touring and inspecting the ongoing developmental projects in the college campus. The Vice Chancellor and his team comprising of the Registrar, and university officials were warmly welcomed with traditional khatags by the College Principal, Dr Tsewang Motup and the faculty, staff and students. In his welcome address, Dr Motup, Principal GDC Nobra, gave a detailed presentation on the academic and co-curricular activities of the college. He also briefed the Vice Chancellor on the various development projects of the college. Sanju Kumari, Student Council President of the college gave a report on the student activities, challenges and college experiences of students. A memorandum from the college faculty was also submitted to the Vice Chancellor, the VC assured that these concerns faced by the students and faculty will be addressed soon.
In his address, Prof Kushwaha expressed his commitment to enhancing the learning experience and fostering a vibrant, positive atmosphere at the college. His visit is part of the ongoing efforts to help strengthen the connection between the university administration and the college community. Prof Kushwaha further spoke on the university’s dedicated efforts to empower the colleges of Ladakh and lay out the vision plan for a robust, quality driven academic environment. Prof. Kushwaha also lauded the college for its academic involvement and for their upcoming initiative in the form of Bridge courses that GDC Nubra will be the first college to offer in all subjects in the months of April-May 2025. He further expressed that such bridge courses will help in the effective implementation of the NEP and help benefit the students at large. Registrar, Nawang Tundup spoke on the various initiatives being taken by the university of Ladakh to ensure the betterment of the colleges of Ladakh. The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar were also presented with a token of appreciation in the form of handcrafted paintings made by the students of Skill Centre GDC Nobra. The university team were also presented with copies of the college magazine and newsletter by Convenor, Media/Publication Committee Assistant Professor English, Sonam Angmo. They were also presented with a copy of a research book written by Dr Konchok Dorjey, Asssitant Professor, Botany.
In the programme, Dr Konchok Dorjey, Assistant Professor, Botany (State Awardee in the field of Teaching and Research 2024), Dr Padma Lhamo, Assistant Professor, History (Awardee, Samvaad Research Fellowship 2024 by Tata Steel Foundation), Sanju Kumari, 4th semester student, (Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025) were felicitated for their achievements. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Staff Secretary GDC Nobra, Assistant Professor Political Science, Rinchen Angmo. The master of ceremonies for the event was Naziya Anjum, a second semester student.
