2-day intramural sports event concludes at GDC Zanskar.
Kargil, Sept 06, 2024: Department of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Zanskar organized a two-day Intramural Sports competition for the college students.
The event comprised 100 Meter, 200 Meter, Shot Put, Javelin Throw and Discus Throw in both Men’s and Women’s category. Today was the concluding day of the competition which included games in Shot Put, Discus Throw and Javelin Throw for both Men’s and Women’s categories.
In discus throw men’s event Jigmet Akar student of 3rd Semester secured first position where as Chemat Namgyal, 5th Semester and Tsering Lundup of first semester clinched the second and third positions respectively.
In women’s discus throw Padma Youdon of third Semester secured the first position. Falzang Angmo of 5th Semester got the second position while Zafina Akther of 5th Semester secured the third position.
In the shot put men’s event, Tsering Lundup of 1st Semester, Jigmet Akar, 3rd Semester and Rigzin Chosfail of 1st Semester got the first, second and third positions respectively.
In the women’s shot put Khalida Akhtar of 5th Semester secured the first position whereas Zafina Akhter of 5th Semester and Sonam Chosdon of 1st Semester clinched the second and third positions respectively.
In men’s Javelin throw Tsering Lundup of 1st semester, Chemat Namgyal of 5th Semester and Jigmet Akar of 3rd semester secured the first, second and third positions respectively.
In women’s Javelin throw, Zahida Banoo of 5th semester got the first position whereas Stanzin Choskit of 1st Semester and Falzang Angmo of 5th Semester secured the second and third positions respectively.
The second day of the event featured the 100M and 200M race. In the 100M Men’s race Jigmet Akar of 3rd Semester clinched the first position and Chemat Namgyal of 5th Semester got the second position. Tsering Lundup of 1st Semester secured the third position. In the 100M women’s race Tsewang Lahmo of 1st Semester secured the first position whereas Tsering Dolma of 5th Semester and Sonam Chosdon of 1st Semester got the second and third positions respectively.
In the 200M Men’s race Jigmet Akar of 1st Semester clinched the first position while Chemat Namgyal of 5th semester and Rigzin Chosfail of 1st semester secured the second and third positions respectively.
In the 200M Women’s race, Stanzin Zomskit of 1st semester, Rehana Batool of 3rd Semester and Rigzen Wangmo of 3rd Semester secured the first, second and third positions respectively.
The winners were facilitated with awards and prizes in different categories by the Department of Physical Education. Dr. Abid Hussain, Officiating Principal also addressed the athletes on the occasion and appreciated the enthusiasm and zeal of the participating students. The event ended with vote of thanks by Dr Jamphel Sheyan.
