    5-day Yoga session concludes at GDC Drass.

    Kargil, June 20, 2023: Ahead of the International Yoga Day to be celebrated on June 21, 2023, the Department of Physical Education, Government Degree College Drass culminated 5-day Yoga Session in the College Campus from June 16 to June 20, 2023.
    The 5-day Yoga Session was organized to highlight the importance of yoga and its benefits on the mind and body and to also prepare the faculty and students to practice Yoga to be performed on International Yoga Day.
    During the 5-day Yoga Session, Mustafa Ali, Director Physical Education, GDC Drass taught the participants different Asanas of yoga. On first day, the Asanas were Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Balasana, Navasana, Tadasana.
    The Asanas performed on day second were Adho mukha savasana, trikonasan, uttanasana, utkatasana, vrikshasana.
    The third day Asanas included shavasana, garudasana, sun salutation, ustrasana, baddhakon asana. On the fourth day, the Director Physical Education taught students the Asanas of lotus position, sarvangasana, paschimoyttanasana, salbhasana, virbhadrasana.
    The fifth Day of Yoga Session was organized by GDC Drass in collaboration with Gadwal Regiment of Indian Army and Govt. Higher Secondary School Drass.
    The session was attended by more than 300 students and faculty members of GDC Drass and Govt. Higher Secondary School Drass.
    Mustafa Ali briefed students about different Asanas and their benefits and lead the Yoga team to various Asanas. In the end, he encouraged students to make yoga their daily routine to keep themselves physically fit and mentally healthy.
    Pertinently, International Yoga Day is a day to celebrate the Indian practice of yoga and to raise awareness about its importance. This day is celebrated since 2014 and has been recognized by the UN General Assembly as an International Day of Recognition.
    The International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21 at Sub District Hospital Drass at 06:50 a.m. as per the instruction of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Drass.
