Leh, 16 May, 2025: The 50th Statehood Day of Sikkim was celebrated with full fervour at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Sikkim on their 50th Statehood Day, recognising the profound history and significance of Sikkim’s integration with India.

The celebration was organised as part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,’ an initiative to foster unity by appreciating India’s rich cultural and linguistic diversity. On this occasion, the recorded message of Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, was played, where he emphasised Sikkim’s vibrant traditions, diverse languages, and its recognition as India’s first fully organic state.
Distinguished speakers at the event highlighted the deep historical and geographical similarities between Sikkim and Ladakh, appreciating their shared landscapes, traditions, and resilience. The gathering served as a meaningful platform to acknowledge Sikkim’s unique identity while strengthening cultural ties between different regions of India.
