Leh, July 13: The 6.0 KBR Champions League District Tournament, organized by Kunfan Deytsogs Spituk in collaboration with the Ladakh Football Association and supported by LAHDC Leh, Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) concluded with a thrilling final match and a grand closing ceremony.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, as the chief guest. The Guest of Honor was Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk;alongside Phyang Councillor Tundup Nurbu, AOC of Airforce Leh, Chokjey Lama, Bakula Yab, LFA Chairman, and other notable dignitaries were also in attendance.
The final match saw Skalzangling facing off against the Class of 90s, with Skalzangling emerging victorious with a decisive 4-0 win. Skalzangling, the defending champions from last year, showcased their dominance once again, bringing the trophy back home in a nail-biting tournament.
In his address, CEC, LAHDC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson congratulated the organizers for successfully hosting the tournament and for their efforts in promoting the spirit of sportsmanship. He also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the LAHDC Leh to support the development of football in the Leh district.
Additionally,highlighting Ladakh’s sports potential, pointed out the transformation since becoming a union territory in 2019,emphasizing significant progress in five years. CEC also announced the upcoming Climate Cup edition scheduled for September, aiming to elevate it to an international sporting event. It was also informed that with the council’s initiative, six teams have been sent to compete nationally and established a partnership with the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The closing ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Spituk Goba, Shri Lobzang Larjay, followed by the lifting of the cup by Skalzangling FC, the winners of the 6.0 KBR Champions League.
