CEC Feroz Khan reviews status of stock, supply position of essential commodities in Zanskar Takes stock of pace of progress on JJM, other development works

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 18, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan took stock of the status of stock and supply position of essential commodities besides the pace of progress on the execution of developmental works including Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) during a meeting with the concerned officers here on Friday.
Executive Councilor for Health Er Punchok Tashi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tsering Motup, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar Sonam Dorjay and other concerned district and sub divisional officers were present during the meeting.
SDM Zanskar apprised the meeting about the total requirement, stock balance and stocking of food grains including rice, atta, kerosene oil, petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, medicines and other essential commodities.
CEC Feroz Khan directed the concerned officers of the respective departments to ensure complete stocking of the essential commodities at the earliest keeping in view the coming winter season, adding he directed the officers of Food, Civil Services and Consumer Affairs Department to complete all necessary stocking till September end.
The CEC also reviewed the on-going works under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He directed the concerned officers to speed up the pace of work in order to achieve the set targets by 15th August, 2022 and also set the target of 800 FHTCs till ending October this year.
CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan also directed the concerned officers to submit the revised budget for the financial year 2022-2023 and the revised budget for the year 2021-2022 budget under District Capex within 3 days’ time.
Earlier, the CEC met various social and religious organizations and public delegations from Padum and adjacent villages who apprised him about their demands and developmental needs.
A delegation of Zanskar Buddhist Association, Zanskar Gompa Association and Zanskar Buddhist Youth Association collectively projected the need to ensure proper safety and relocation of religious and historical sites during the Kargil- Zanskar National Highway NH-301 expansion works and retaining of original names of historical sites during the road expansion works by GREF in Lungnaq area.
The CEC assured that the matters will be taken up with the concerned agencies for appropriate measures in this regard.
BDC Zangla raised the issue of development activities including cellular connectivity, while as the representative of Kumik village requested for link road to the village, establishment of model village, irrigation canal, middle school and other related matters to which the CEC assured to consider the issues for suitable follow up measures.
Women SHG workers of Salapi village projected demand for green houses and machines and GRS workers of MNREGA raised the issue of pending salaries and regularisation.
The CEC assured that suitable measures will be taken to address these issues.
Earlier, the CEC also discussed various issues related to the expansion of NH-301 with General Manager NHIDCL Shiv Kumar.
While hailing the efforts of NHIDCL for the on-going fast pace road expansion works of the national highway, CEC Khan expressed optimism that it will be a turning point in Zanskar’s history which will open up more avenues of trade, commerce and economic development of the area in the years to come.
CEC Khan also urged the General Manager NHIDCL that adequate measures should be taken to ensure the safety and proper relocation of religious and historical sites near the national highway during the course of road expansion works.
