CEC Feroz Khan chairs meeting regarding need for tapping potential of apricot for economic revolution in Kargil
KARGIL, SEPTMBER 25, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan chaired a meeting to discuss the need for tapping potential of apricot for economic revolution in Kargil at TFC Hall Biamathang here on Friday.
Executive Councillor for Agriculture Mohsin Ali, Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbas Razvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, , Chief Agriculture Officer Kacho Muhammad Ali Khan, Chief Horticulture Officer Ali Raza, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Dr Zakir Hussain, Naveen Gehlawat and Ghulam Mustafa from Krishak Agritech and other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, CEC Feroz Khan said that owing to the efforts by Krishak Agritech apricots from Kargil have reached the national and international markets, however there is need for more efforts to make it a brand globally and to exploit its full potential. He assured to extend all out assistance needed for enhancing the production and processing of apricots.
The CEC was informed during the meeting that before the closure of Zojila Pass, space for processing unit and factory would be allotted and the team of scientists and machine manufacturing team will be visiting the district soon.
Meanwhile, DC Kargil suggested for signing of an MoU between Krishak Agritech and the Horticulture Department for irrigation and harvesting, and added that the land ownership should remain with the Horticulture Department.
During the meeting, Naveen Gehlawat and Ghulam Mustafa gave a detailed presentation on tapping potential of apricot for economic revolution including the need of fresh apricot processing units, collective responsibility in establishing apricot processing industry and other related issues.
