UT Ladakh Approval & Monitoring Committee approves Rs 9 crore Annual Action Plan under RKVY
Leh, October 17: Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula, chaired a meeting of the UT level Approval & Monitoring Committee to approve the Annual Action Plan under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) scheme for UT Ladakh.
The Committee approved Rs 4.5 crore each for Leh and Kargil districts under the Annual Action Plan under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVJ) after a detailed discussion.
During the meeting, Advisor Narula emphasised the need to implement drip and sprinkle irrigation, control codling moth, better utilization of Changspa farm space, and setting up of model orchards of sea buckthorn. He also directed the concerned departments to formulate action plans that benefit farmers directly.
A project aimed at doubling the income of farmers through popularization of Kala Zeera production technology under changing climatic scenario in Ladakh was also approved as part of the Action Plan.
Besides, substantial provision for solar water lifting pumps that promote carbon neutrality were also included in the action plan.
Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer,Tashi Tsetan gave a detailed presentation on RKVY-RAFTAAR, its objectives proposed Annual Action Plan of UT Ladakh etc. Agriculture and Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry Departments, HMAARI and SKAUST from both Leh and Kargil districts presented their proposed interventions, research projects and beneficiary oriented schemes.
Principal Secretary, Planning, Forest & Environment; Commissioner Secretary, Water Resources/ Irrigation/ Minor Irrigation; Secretary Industries; Secretary, Animal Husbandry/ Fisheries; Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Leh and concerned officers were also present in the meeting.
