Secretary, Tourism, Ladakh takes stock of tourism infrastructure development works at Suru Valley, Zanskar Stresses on quality, completion of works within set timelines

KARGIL, JULY 25, 2022: On the third day of his Kargil visit, Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, Ladakh Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan on Sunday inspected the status of ongoing tourism infrastructure development works along the Kargil-Zanskar National Highway [NH-301] at Suru Valley and Zanskar.
At Purtikchey, the Secretary was informed that wayside amenity is complete and has already been outsourced and the facility will become functional soon. The Secretary instructed the concerned officers to maintain well the facilities and provide better service to tourists/visitors.
While taking stock of ongoing works at Choskore Thang, Panikhar, the Secretary directed the engineers to complete the remaining works within the set timelines ensuring quality as per parameters defined in the DPR. He also asked the engineers of Kargil Development Authority to ensure synergy between various facilities and prepare necessary DPR for the same if required.
At Himiling and Sani, Secretary Khan directed the concerned officers to ensure completion of the wayside amenities by August end. He also instructed the Chief Executive Officer, Zanskar Development Authority to prepare DPR for construction of one wayside amenity near Drang Drung glacier, Penzila along with appropriate view point.
Meanwhile, number of peoples’ delegations at Himiling, Phey and adjoining villages met the Secretary and projected various demands pertaining to their developmental needs related to heritage and tourism.
The Secretary gave a patient hearing to the demands of the peoples’ delegations and assured them of due consideration and appropriate follow up measures.
