ICDS/Social & Tribal Walfare Department Kargil celebrates IWD
Kargil, March 08, 2023: ICDS/Social and Tribal Walfare Department Kargil today organized International Women’s Day themed “DigitALL Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” at Auditorium Hall Kargil.
The program focused on gender equality and women empowerment in the region.
BDC Kargil, Khatija Bano was the chief guest on the occasion. Besides District Program Officer Kargil, Nargis Bano, District Social & Tribal Walfare Officer Kargil, Agha Syed Jamal, Gynaecologist Dr Nasreen, Member of Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Advocate Zareena Bano, representative of Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF), Administrator of One Stop Centre, CDPOs and other local women participated in the event.
On the occasion, BDC Kargil congratulated all the participants on International Women’s Day. She spoke about the importance of the day and highlighted various achievements by women across the globe.
Khatija said women play a pivotal role in development of society in every respect. She siad a women defines the education of a child thereby increase the literacy of the region.
Khatija stressed the participants to protect women rights and treat every women equally. She said gender based discrimination should be uprooted from society thereby providing equal opportunities to women in every sphere of her life.
JJB Member, Zareena Bano in her address talked about the importance of day, gender equality and gender bases discrimination in society.
She said every year, March marks Women’s Day celebrations and highlighted the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.
Zareena siad on March 08, people commemorate International Women’s Day. It observes cultural, political and socioeconomic women-made achievements in various fields. Women’s Day also marks a call for a gender-equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination and is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
On the occasion, Dr Nasreen talked about medical intervention in protecting women rights that decides health of new born child.
Earlier, Program Officer ICDS, Nargis Bano welcomed the participants on the occasion of IWD and talked about theme of the program.
Later, DSWO Agha Syed Jamal presented vote of thanks while Administrator of One Stop Centre Umul Banin conducted the program proceedings.
