LAACL Kargil organizes music, painting competition at Shakar Chiktan Division.

Kargil, May 19, 2023: Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil today organized a Children’s On Spot Music Competition and On Spot Painting Competition under the Amateur Age Group at Govt. High School Hagnis, Kargil.
It was in continuation with academy’s pursuit for talent hunt among the children of the far-flung areas of Kargil District in musical and visual arts coupled with the objective to inculcate musical and painting skills among the rural children of different age groups.
Around 50 male and female students of different school of Chiktan Block participated in the day-long competitions that mesmerized the gathering comprising of school teachers, staff members, guests and a large number of students with their musical presentations and transcribed their creative ideas on the canvas.
In the music competition, Rigzin Yangdol student of HS Bodh Kharboo won the first prize, Zakir Hussain student of HSS Chiktan and Asiya Banoo student of HS Yokma Kharboo won the second prize and Umbi Kulsum student of HS Yokma Kharboo won third prize respectively.
Similarly, in the painting competition Khatija Parveen student of Govt. HSS Chiktan won the first prize, Shagufta Zahra student of HSS Khangral won the second prize, while as Stanzin Angmo student HSS Chiktan won the third prize respectively.
Executive Councilor Health, LAHDC, Kargil Mohsin Ali, was the chief guest while as Haji Ghulam Ali Headmaster Government High School Hagnis was the guest of honor on the occasion.
While addressing the students, teachers and villagers after distribution of merit certificates among the prize-winning children, EC Mohsin hailed the academy for organizing these competitions for children at Hagnis village. He expressed hope that such competitions will help children in future.
The EC also congratulated the academy for its endeavors in encouraging the younger generation of far-flung areas through such initiatives and urged the need to organize similar programs in future.
While speaking on the occasion, Haji Ghulam Ali, Headmaster Govt. High School Hagnis, thanked the academy for choosing their school for holding children-based competitions and expressed hope that these would enable the children acquire the spirit of competition besides cultural and creative awakening.
He added that such programs are need of the hour, as the present era of competition demands children to be adequately competent in extracurricular activities as well, especially creative ones, apart from their studies.
Earlier, while welcoming the children, teachers, jury and guests Tsewang Rigzin, Sr. Assistant LAACL Kargil highlighted the objectives of the competitions and said that these are part of a series of such children-based programs being held by Cultural Academy Kargil across schools in different blocks of the district.
Rigzin said that the core idea behind organizing such events is to introduce young minds to the realm of creative arts in painting and music. He reiterated the commitment of the academy to work tirelessly for encouraging the young generation.
He said that apart from being committed to the preservation and promotion of local cultural heritage through various programs at regular intervals, every possible effort is being made to inspire and invoke children to explore their creativity through such programs.
Kaneez Fatima, a student of Govt. High School Hagnis & Tsewang Rigzin conducted the proceedings of the competitions while Cultural Assistant Mohd Abbass Skith presented vote of thanks.
