RD&PRD Kargil organizes awareness-cum-cleanliness drive at Sapi village.

Kargil, June 03, 2023:
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Kargil under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen Phase-II today organized an awareness-cum-cleanliness drive on Solid Waste Management at Sapi village of Kargil Block.
District Panchayat Officer (PDO) Kargil, Padma Angmo, BDO Kargil, Samina Bano, VLWs, PRI members and locals of the village participated in the drive.
On the occasion, the DPO said cleanliness is the responsibility of all stakeholders and under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen Phase-II, the department is trying to ensure proper cleanliness and zero tolerance to plastic use.
While informing about the activities of the department, she said efforts are being made for effective solid and liquid waste management.
The DPO gave awareness to participants about solid waste management and appealed people to maintain cleanliness around their surroundings. She also informed the public about various interventions in achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen phase II.
In her address, the BDO Kargil stressed that people should lead the movement of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and be an example for others in proper solid waste management.
She said community participation is a must for the successful implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Grameen Phase-II and for maintaining cleanliness.
The awareness program was followed by a cleanliness drive which was participated by all. In the cleanliness drive, large amount of dry waste was collected and disposed of thus making the surroundings hygienic.
