GMDC Zanskar organizes publicity campaign on tobacco, TB.

Kargil, July 19, 2023: Government Model Degree College, Zanskar in collaboration with CHC Padum today organized a publicity campaign on tobacco and Tuberculosis.
The event was aimed to aware about the menace of tobacco and Tuberculosis under the banner of No Tobacco Campaign and TB Mukt Bharat Campaign.
NCD team CHC Zanskar under the supervision of Dr Asif Wani along with NCD counselor, STS (TB) and DEO attended the event.
Dr Asif spoke at length on tobacco use and its addiction which imparts a negative impact on an individual as well as society at large.
He appraised the participants about the various harmful effects of tobacco products and its impact health pulmonary cancer, hypertension, fibrosis, impotency etc.
Dr Asif also delivered a lecture on Tuberculosis. He highlighted the signs and symptoms of TB. He also shared some interesting facts and figure of TB cases in Zanskar.
As per the survey of CHC, Padum around 33 cases of TB have been reported in Zanskar. He said the prevalence is due to lack of awareness among public and this program will serve as a medium in fostering awareness among public.
Mohd Ishaq, I/C Principal thanked CHC, Padum for the collaboration and wished to conduct such program in future for the interest of public.
He further added that the college is a place where students from every corner of Zanskar get education. He emphasized role of students for the dissemination of information and knowledge to the public of the region.
Around 50 students and faculty members of the college participated in the program. Earlier, Dr Abid Hussain, Assistant Professor, Zoology presented welcome speech and gave an introduction about the event.
