    GDC Drass organizes awareness program on mental health.

    Kargil, July 21, 2023: GDC Drass in collaboration with the Nodal Office Mental Health Department, District Hospital, Kargil, today organized a special event dedicated on mental health awareness.
    The event was aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues and foster a supportive environment for students and staff.
    The GDC Drass has taken the initiative to promote mental health awareness and provide valuable insights into coping with mental health challenges. The schedule of the event includes informative sessions on understanding mental health and identifying common mental health issues by distinguished experts of the field.
    The program started with welcome address by Principal GDC Drass, Dr Amjad Ali Abassi who emphasized on the awareness of mental health issues. The event was graced by four speakers Nasin Zahra who spoke on importance of mental health.
    Syeda Bano highlighted stress management. She elaborated at length the causes of stress and the importance of stress management.
    The third speaker was Syed Hassan Shah, Psychologist of District Hospital Kargil. He discussed issue of substance abuse which is becoming a major social problem in the region.
    His insights were very informative and raised much-needed awareness among the students and staff. The main speaker of the event was Dr Fatima Nissa, Nodal Officer of Mental Health Department of District Kargil.
    She spoke about signs and symptoms of mental health and addressed mental health challenges, the significance to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encouraged individuals to seek help and support without hesitation.
    The event also provided a platform for students and faculties for question-answer session which was very interesting and provoked in-depth discussions.
    Assistant Professor, Sociology, GDC Drass, Samina Rehman conducted the program proceedings and Shakeela Mehraj, a 3rd Semester student expressed gratitude on behalf of the college students, faculty and staff in a heartfelt vote of thanks.
    She acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the college and Nodal Officer Mental Health Department Kargil in organizing the event and emphasized the significance of mental health awareness programs.
    This collaboration represents a significant step in fostering mental health awareness and support within the college community.
