Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) holds meeting to discuss issues related to District Hospital at Kargil.

Leh, July 22, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with the concerned stakeholders to discuss issues related to the District Hospital at Kargil.
There were detailed discussions on the delay in the procurement of new CT Scan and MRI machines for District Hospital Kargil; the non-functioning of the trauma centre at the building of the District Hospital; the congestion at the Mother Child Unit; the need for a separate block along with adequate human resource/manpower at the District Hospital to make the 300-bedded Hospital fully functional, etc.
Apprising HLG of the delay in the purchase of the CT Scan and MRI machine, Advisor Dr Pawan Kotwal and Dr Motup informed that both the machines along with other required medical equipment would be imported from foreign countries at the earliest. They also informed about the engagement of medical equipment maintenance outsourced personnel under the Biomedical Equipment Management and Maintenance Programme, which is an initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to provide support to state governments to outsource medical equipment maintenance comprehensively for all facilities to improve the functionality and life of equipment, simultaneously improving healthcare services in public health facilities, to repair and take care of the medical equipment.
Stating that it is the Administration’s responsibility to take care of patients and provide them with necessary healthcare facilities, the HLG instructed that all necessary formalities, including paper and tendering work, may be processed at the earliest for the quick purchase of the CT Scan and MRI machines. He also instructed the Director of Health Services to form a committee for taking relevant decisions on the issues related to District Hospital Kargil. He also instructed Dr Motup to prepare an integrated plan on the infrastructure, machines, plants and human resources in the Health Department and assured to provide all possible assistance.
