Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) hosts farewell party to bid adieu to PCCF Jigmet Takpa.

Leh, Aug 02, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) hosted a farewell party to bid adieu to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF), Shri Jigmet Takpa, IFoS, at Raj Niwas.
Wishing the best, the HLG commended Shri Takpa for his work ethic, his commendable record from his assumption as the PCCF of UT Ladakh from Day 1 to the very last day. He commended Shri Takpa for his various initiatives and the keen interest taken by him in getting clearance for the installation of BSNL towers for the 4G saturation project. He also commended Shri Takpa’s commitment towards higher good and the welfare of society.
Speaking on the occasion, the HLG stated that India as a nation has prospered and developed under the apex leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji. He also stated that Shri Narendra Modi ji is concerned about the welfare of the people of India, including those of people in small states and UTs like Ladakh.
Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal called Shri Takpa an ‘epitome of sincerity and simplicity’ and informed about the contributions made by Shri Takpa for various wildlife and environment-related projects when he was a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and later as the PCCF of UT Ladakh.
Expressing gratitude to the UT Administration for honouring him, Shri Takpa said that he considers himself fortunate for being born in Ladakh. He thanked everyone for their cooperation in various flagship programmes. He informed about his various assignments when he was a Joint Secretary at MoEFCC.
Shri Takpa highlighted the need to protect the environment and promote sustainable tourism along with a focus on tapping renewable energy for the overall development of Ladakh. He stated that he would continue to contribute to the overall development of Ladakh.
Earlier, Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar informed about various assignments taken by Jigmet Takpa, a 1990-batch IFoS officer from the J&K cadre, including the head of the Desertification Cell in the MoEFCC, the National Focal Point of UNCCD for India and the Director of Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) and various prestigious awards won by him such as the Environmental Hero Award, the State Award for Meritorious Public Service, J&K; the Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award, the Renewtech Award for Best Nodal Agency, etc. He also highlighted his initiatives in the renewable energy sector.
