GMDC Zanskar celebrates International Youth Day 2023.
Kargil, August 13, 2023: Government Model Degree College Zanskar on Saturday celebrated International Youth Day with enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools, as well as the college’s own students and staff members.
Dr Stanzin Angmo, BMO Zanskar was the chief guest on the occasion. He was welcomed with traditional Khatak. Dr Jamphel Department of English presented the welcome Speech.
During his address, Dr. Jamphel emphasized the pivotal role that the youth play in safeguarding the pristine environment of Zanskar. A painting competition on ‘Climate Change’ was conducted as a part of program, wherein 25 students participated.
Thinlay Namgyal, 9th Class student of High School Duzin Photan bagged 1st position while Padma Yangdol and Khalida Akhtar students of college bagged 2nd & 3rd position.
A debate competition was also held to inculcate awareness among the youth on drugs and its addiction in which five students of different institutions participated.
Tsering Yangdol, student of Govt. High School Karaha bagged 1st position, Roqsana Perveen and Stanzin Yangzom students of the college bagged 2nd and 3rd positions.
Dr Stanzin Angmo, BMO CHC Zanskar delivered a power point presentation on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene”. In her speech she said that menstruation is a natural process and every woman must know about its management and hygiene.
She encouraged students to remove the societal stigma regarding process and stressed to disseminate her message of menstrual hygiene management to families and societies. She also spoke about the use of hygienic menstrual pad during menstruation.
She further said that due to lack of awareness, females are using unhygienic pad and clothes which will lead to increase the patients of cervical cancer among females.
Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Professor and Mohd Ali Khan, Librarian acted the role of jury in painting and debate competition. In the end, appreciation certificates were distributed among the students. Dr Abid Hussain presented vote of thanks, while Dr Jamphel conducted the proceeding of the event.
