Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh celebrates Independence Day.
Kargil, August 15, 2023: Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh today celebrated Independence Day the 77th Independence Day with national fervor and gaiety.
The National ritual of flag hoisting was ritualized by Kaneez Fatima, Rector, Kargil Campus, UoL, who always acted as a torchbearer for Kargil Campus. This ceremony commenced at 8:30 a.m. National flag hoisting was followed by the tuning of the National Anthem.
While addressing the audience, Rector Kaneez Fatima extended warm greetings of the day of national significance and exhorted on cherishing the constitutional values in letter and spirit. She pledged to affirm our selfless towards nation for its unity, integrity and prosperity. She recalled the supreme sacrifices made by thousands of brave hearts that made this day (independence) possible.
She addressed that nation is not a piece of land only. It is more than that. It is a feeling of belongingness and oneness. This is a feeling of common cultural values and shared history which we all must cherish and forward further to coming generations.
Kaneez Fatima also congratulated to all to take over charge of G-20 meetings presidency by India. She said India has successfully discharged its duties as a responsible nation and always stood steadfast against all odds to disseminate the message of: One Earth, One Family (Vasudeva Kutumbakam).
She said during the Covid-19 pandemic time, India was a hope for many such nations which were not in position to save the lives of their citizens due to the unavailability of any vaccine to thwart the fatal effects of Coronavirus. India supplied huge consignment of corona vaccines to all needy nations free of cost.
Kaneez Fatima said India has made huge advancement in all sectors that is, economy, technology, defense, trade and commerce and foreign affairs.
She added that India has overhauled education sector as well after the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP). She reiterated that the University of Ladakh is committed to implement this policy in letter and spirit to make inclusive educational growth of the institution.
She also stressed on the educational, social and economic development of the subalterns especially women and tribes who are still living at the lower ebb of the society.
She also applauded the relentless hard work of faculty members to bring laurels for this institution. This is quite apparent in results of exams of national level where students of Kargil campus, UoL have proved their mettle. She urged all to work as a team to make this institution to scale greater heights of excellence.
Her address was a bouquet to pay tribute to martyrs and law abiding citizens irrespective of caste, class, gender, ethnicity, regional and linguistic differences. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets.
