Regional Director RBI & Chairman JKBOSE call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
Leh, Aug 22, 2023: Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shri Kamal P Patnaik called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar and officials from RBI were present in the meeting.
Shri Kamal informed that all the banks in Leh have been 100% digitalised and about the ongoing efforts to make all banks in Kargil 100% digitalised at the earliest. He apprised the HLG of RBI’s role in taking the economy of Ladakh forward. He also informed about the issues in providing banking services to customers in rural areas due to internet service issues.
Shri Kamal informed about Consumer Education and Protection Cell (CEP Cell) set up by RBI in all its Regional Offices in which any person with grievances against any department of the Reserve Bank can lodge the complaint with CEP Cell. He highlighted the need to take the Digital India mission ahead and the need to raise awareness about improving financial literacy among people to prevent them from becoming victims of cyber fraud, etc.
Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, informed about the need for better penetration of social security schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) in Ladakh.
The HLG asked Shri Kamal to submit a proposal on the banking services they want to provide in Ladakh for the benefit of the people of the region.
Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), Dr Parikshat Singh Manhas, called on the HLG at Raj Niwas. Principal Secretary, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar; Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar; Director, Department of School Education, Shri Tsering Paldan and Assistant Secretary, JKBOSE Leh, Shri Tashi Tundup were present in the meeting.
Shri Sanjeev Khirwar informed HLG that JKBOSE has sub-offices in Leh and Kargil where 22 employees are currently working. He also informed that all the government schools in Ladakh are gradually transitioning to the CBSE curriculum from JKBOSE. He further informed that a few private schools are still affiliawithd to JKBOSE as they do not meet the CBSE requirements.
Shri Sanjeev informed that 22 employees will still be attached with JKBOSE but they need to be utilised in some other departments of UT Ladakh. He also informed that a committee will be constituted to check how these employees could be utilised.
Dr Parikshat informed that some portion of the students still want to continue with JKBOSE as their curriculum is at par with CBSE.
The HLG highlighted the need for 100% affiliation of all schools-both government and private- with CBSE for the overall benefit of students as ultimately the Administration has to think about the welfare of students. He asked Shri Sanjeev to constitute a committee to look into the matter. He stated that the welfare of the JKBOSE employees from Ladakh would be kept in mind while taking a final decision in this regard.
