    Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) holds public interaction with villagers of Shayok & representatives from different villages of Durbuk on Day 2 of his tour to Durbuk sub-division.

    Leh, Aug 24, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held public interaction with villagers of Shayok and representatives from different villages of Durbuk on the second day of his tour to the Durbuk sub-division.
    The HLG was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Shayok village. The Sarpanch of Shayok village highlighted the need to sanction a lift irrigation system in the village for the irrigation of their fields. He also highlighted the need to install mobile towers to improve telecommunication connectivity in the village. The school teachers requested for border area allowance for the teachers teaching in border areas of Ladakh. They also requested for the transfer of teachers to different parts for a better teaching experience.
    The HLG assured to look into the issue of water sources for irrigation purposes and also into their demand of sanctioning a lift irrigation system for the village. He emphasised conserving water for posterity as water scarcity will be a major challenge for Ladakh in future. He informed about his conversation with the Hon’ble Minister for Telecommunications, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and the assurance given by the Hon’ble Minister to resolve the issue of 4G saturation by BSNL in uncovered areas of Ladakh at the earliest. He informed that the UTthe Administration will take necessary measures for the overall development of Ladakh.
    The HLG informed that potable drinking water will be provided through FHTCs to rural households under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He assured to expedite the ongoing JJM works in different parts of Ladakh. He also assured to look into the issues raised by the school teachers.
    The HLG also held public interaction with representatives of Nimgo, Tharuk, Shachukul, Pun-Pun, Phulaks, Yerat-Chilam and other villages in the Durbuk sub-division raised several demands, viz. Double laning of Tharuk-Shachukul Road; link road from Gagar-La to Kela; connect Durbuk with Northerngrid power transmission line for uninterrupted power supply; gynaecologist at PHC Tangtse; ice-hockey rink at Tsiguchan; generator set and carpet-weaving machine for Ama Tsogspa Nimgo; Medical Sub-Centre at Pun-Pun; generator set for Pun-Pun Gompa; proper room for Self-Help Group, Pun-Pun to carry out their activities; Medical Sub-Centre at Nimgo village; the need for a generator set operator at Tangtse; the installation of Jio mobile tower at Phulaks; inclusion of Chilam, Yerat and Pholonglay in Model Village scheme; reopening of trekking route from Amtat-La Chilam to Shara village; the need to provide more ration under public distribution system (PDS); the need to repair washroom at Nimgo Community Hall; the early completion of Changla canal; the need to give preference to local labourers for different projects work carried out by GREF, etc.
    Assuring to look into their issues, the HLG stated that the objective of his visit to the Durbuk sub-division is to assess the ongoing developmental works and the challenges faced by the people of the Durbuk sub-division. He assured to take the necessary steps to address their issues and work for the development of the Durbuk sub-division.
