Historic Cultural Exchange and Tourism Collaboration Launched between Vietnam’s Lam Dong and India’s Leh Ladakh.
Da Lat, Vietnam, Dec 30: Marking a momentous occasion, a pioneering cultural exchange and tourism cooperation initiative between Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, and Leh Ladakh, India, themed “Ladakh Unveiled” was officially inaugurated in Da Lat, Vietnam. This event signifies a crucial milestone in fortifying the bonds between these two distinguished regions.
The event officially commenced on December 27 at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City which was presided by Vice Chairman, People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, Pham S and the historic event concluded on December 29 at Samten Hills Dalat, graced by chief guest, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Dr Madan Mohan Sethi in the presence of Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson on both occasions.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, Vietnam’s Tourisms, Nguyen Trung Kien; Representatives of LAHDC Leh, Councillor Tsering Namgyal; Councillor Lobzang Sherap; President, ALLTA, PT Kunzang; President, ALHGA, Skarma Tsering Dehlex; President, ALTOA, Delex Namgail were in attendance along with representatives from pertinent departments and agencies of Lam Dong and Leh Ladakh.
In his keynote address during the concluding ceremony, Consul General Dr Madam Mohan Sethi emphasized the profound importance of this event in fostering tourism ties between Lam Dong-Vietnam and Ladakh-India. He underscored the mutual commitment to promoting each other’s unique destinations as premier tourist hubs.
Dr. Sethi further lauded Samten Hills Dalat, a majestic Buddhist heritage construction nestled amidst the picturesque hills, as a beacon not only for spiritual seekers but also for those yearning for serene tranquility and rejuvenation. He expressed confidence that this stunning landmark would attract visitors from across the globe, further strengthening the cultural and tourism bridges between Vietnam and India.
Vice Chairman, Pham S, in his address at the opening ceremony, emphasized the event’s significance in fostering amicable relations between Lam Dong Province and the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh. He expressed confidence in further strengthening cultural and tourism ties, paving the way for collaborative opportunities across various sectors.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson acknowledged the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi and the Vietnamese government in enhancing bilateral cooperation across diverse domains. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Samten Hills Dalat, emphasizing the uniqueness of Ladakh’s wonders showcased at the event. He also expressed gratitude to UT Ladakh headed by Lt Governor, Brig (Dr) B D Mishra for his unwavering support. This cultural exchange and tourism cooperation program signify a significant stride toward fostering robust ties between Lam Dong and Ladakh, laying the foundation for future cooperation and mutual prosperity, added CEC Gyalson.
CEC Gyalson added he was overwhelmed with the positive response received to the first-ever cultural exchange and tourism introduction programme held in Lam Dong Province, Vietnam, showcasing the rich tourism and cultural potential of Leh Ladakh in Vietnam. He opined that this event marks the beginning of a new chapter in the tourism sector of both the regions.
Another landmark achievement was the signing of three separate Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) between the stakeholders of the two regions i.e Lam Dong Province, Vietnam and Leh Ladakh, India. The first MoU dealt with collaboration in Agriculture between Ladakh and Vietnam, which was signed by Councillor Khaltse, LAHDC Leh, Lobzang Sherap representing Ladakh.
The second MoU was signed between the Travel and Tourism stakeholders of Vietnam and Ladakh and the third MoU focused on Hotel Industry and was signed between the respective stakeholders and experts of hotel industry.
A huge number of people participated in both the opening and closing ceremony including tourism stakeholders of Vietnam and official delegates of the Vietnam Government.
Lam Dong Province, renowned for its temperate climate, breathtaking natural landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, holds immense tourism potential. And Samten Hills Dalat, a highlight of Vietnam tourism in 2023, stands as a testament to Lam Dong’s cultural richness, a space established by Drubwang Sonam Jorfel Rinpoche, a venerable monk from Ladakh. This space, the Spiritual & Cultural space of Vajrayana Buddhism certified by Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, includes the world’s largest prayer wheel recognized by the Guinness World Record.
