Delegations from Sham area, in-service veterinary graduates & professional paraglider from Ladakh call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) Bd Mishra (Retd).
Leh, Jan 01, 2024: A delegation from Sham area comprising the Chairman of the Nambardar-Panchayat Coordination Committee, Sham and members of Ladakh Buddhist Association, Sham led by Shri Tsering Norboo called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were also present in the meeting.
Shri Norboo raised several issues regarding Sham area, including the need to create the post of an Executive Engineer for Irrigation & Flood Control Department and Public Health Engineering Department and shifting both these departments to Khaltse by upgrading it to Division from the Sub-Division level; the need for a Fire Brigade Station at Khaltse headquarter; employment on contractual/outsourcing basis to one of the victims of the fire accident that took place in Tia village few weeks back; creation of a separate district for Sham area; the need to ban on opening of liquor/wine shop and bars in Sham area; the need to provide basic facilities and developing infrastructure and facilities such as post office, opening of branch of one of the leading banks, in the Trans-Singge La area, etc.
The HLG asked DC Leh to look into the issue of the purchase of fire engines along with taking up the matter with Ladakh Police to train Ladakh Police personnel to maintain and operate the fire engines. He assured to look into the other matter. He also spoke to Commissioner Secretary, Excise, Shri Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, IRS, and asked him not to open new liquor/wine shops in Ladakh.
A delegation comprising in-service veterinary graduates who are serving in Sheep/Animal Husbandry Department of UT Ladakh led by Dr Tsewang Morup called on the HLG, at LG Secretariat. Secretary to the HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Dr Morup apprised the HLG of the recently notified draft recruitment rules for the gazetted post of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in Animal/Sheep Husbandry Department and requested the UT Administration to reserve between 25% to 30% of posts in the Sheep/Animal Husbandry Department for the in-service veterinary graduates. He informed that in-service veterinary graduates like him hold BVSc and AH degrees and their services were utilised by the department in the capacity of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons for more than a decade.
The HLG inquired about the possibility of providing age relaxation to in-service veterinary graduates for the recruitment for gazetted posts of Assistant Veterinary Surgeon along with maintaining a proportion between freshers and experienced ones so that justice is served to all. He asked Shri Ravinder, IAS, to study the matter.
Professional Paraglider Instructor, Ladakh Flying School, Shri Stanzin Sonam, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Commissioner Secretary, Tourism, Shri Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, IRS; Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Shri Stanzin informed that he has been selected for the 8th Thailand Paragliding Accuracy ASEAN Friendships Open (FAI-CAT II)-AFA Nation League 2024 and Paragliding Accuracy World Cup to be held in Thailand in Thailand in the month of February 2024. He requested financial assistance for the procurement of necessary paragliding equipment and to cover expenses for participation in the said events.
Stating that he wants to provide exposure and training to sportspersons from Ladakh so that they can compete and participate at the highest level, the HLG asked Shri Kacho Mehboob, IRS, to get in touch with the Army to coordinate Shri Stanzin’s training and other required facilities, etc. He also stated that he wants to see 10-15 youth from Ladakh training in paragliding by Shri Stanzin.
