    Director Business Consulting Ernest & Young and delegates from Art of Living call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) in New Delhi.

    Leh, Mar 05, 2024: Director, Business Consulting, Ernest & Young, Col (Dr) Ashwani Kumar Joshi (Retd), called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), in New Delhi.
    Col (Dr) Ashwani informed the HLG that Ernest & Young (EY) is a global leader in consultancy services and has been in the business for around 100 years with operations in 150 countries and more than three lakh personnel providing various specialised services. He also informed the HLG about EY’s tourism, agri and allied sector, forestry and climate change, social and skills with a team of over 500 sector professionals providing various strategy, management and technology consulting services. He also informed that EY works with different central ministries, states and UTs.
    Col (Dr) Ashwani (Retd) shared the proposal for developing an ecosystem for sustainable tourism in Ladakh. He informed the HLG about the problem statement, including water scarcity and the dumping of single-use plastics due to the influx of tourists in Ladakh. He also informed the HLG of the preliminary landscape assessment and the Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework meant for waste management practices and measuring outcomes based on improved solid waste management (SWM) practices.
    Col (Dr) Ashwani (Retd) offered services such as research and management, project development and implementation, support in current GoI programmes, develop monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, support in fund management, policy advocacy and networking and capacity building and awareness. He proposed to support departments of the local government, including LAHDC, Urban Local Bodies, Culture and Tourism depts to contribute towards sustainable advancement of Ladakhi identity to foster a brighter future for its population. He also proposed the following thematic domains for synergetic cooperation with UT Ladakh such as municipal services with an acute focus on waste management and sustainable tourist experience with focus on culture and heritage.
    The HLG appreciated EY for their work and stated that he would consult with the concerned departmental secretaries and officials regarding the proposal submitted by the organisation.
    A delegation from Art of Living led by its trustee, Dr RK Tyagi, who is also the former Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, called on the HLG in New Delhi.
    Dr Tyagi apprised the HLG of various initiatives taken by Art of Living in Ladkah, viz. the establishment of an Advanced Skill Development Training Center in collaboration between Art of Living and Jamyang School in Leh; skill training programme provided for Ladakhi youth; the distribution of oxygen concentrators for health institutes in rural areas of Ladakh for benefit of patients; conducting plantation drive in Ladakh, etc.
    The HLG appreciated Art of Living for their initiatives to provide skill training programmes to Ladakhi youth and women.
