    Panamik Councillor-led delegation comprising VEC members & members of Chamber of Industries Leh call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
    Leh, June 20, 2024: A delegation comprising members of Village Education Committee (VEC), Panamik led by its Councillor, Shri Tsering Sandup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (DR) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS: Principal Secretary, Shri Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Director, School Education Department, Shri Tsering Paldan, JKAS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Sandup highlighted the issue of low enrolment of students at Government schools in Panamik and various steps taken by them such as organising drives, camps and events to increase the enrolment of students. He requested the conversion of Govt High School at Panamik into Eklavya Model Residential School; construction of residential hostels for 100 boys and girls, respectively; construction of staff quarter for teachers and providing bus facility to ferry students residing in far-off places to the school.
    The HLG asked Shri Khirwar and Shri Paldan to look into the matter and take necessary steps accordingly.
    A delegation comprising members of Chamber of Industries, Leh, led by its President, Shri Rinchen Namgial, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Principal Secretary, Shri Sanjiv Khirwar, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Secretary, Shri Amit Sharma, IAS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Rinchen apprised the HLG of various issues faced by MSME units like them in Ladakh, viz. the need to relook at the e-tendering system of govt agencies for the execution of civil works and fabrication works and the separation of civil works and fabrication works to ensure their sustenance; establishing a procurement system in the form of raw materials bank in the interest of all MSME units; making the Pashmina Dehairing Plant functional at the earliest to ensure adequate availability of high-quality pashmina; the requirement for a proper industrial and domestic waste disposal management system in the Industrial Estate; the need to engage manpower to ensure safety at the Industrial Estate at Leh; the need to establish a cafeteria with public toilet and medical aid facilities in the Industrial Estate area, etc.
    The HLG asked Shri Amit Sharma that SIDCO should be the nodal agency to work out a model on the lines of J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (SICOP) and procure materials for the sustenance of MSME units in Ladakh. He also asked SIDCO for a bare minimum recruitment of staff to ensure the safety of Industrial Estate in Leh. He also instructed that SIDCO should take care of the general cleanliness of the Industrial Estate area. The HLG also highlighted the need to ensure public convenience along with café and medical aid facilities at the Industrial Estate.
