    Warm farewell accorded to Shafqat Ali Khan by MC-Kargil on his superannuation.
    Kargil, June 30, 2024: A warm farewell was organized by the Municipal Committee of Kargil in honour of Executive Officer, Shafaqat Ali Khan, upon his superannuation.
    The event was attended by Director, Urban Local Bodies (ULB), Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi and Administrator, MC-Kargil (also Joint Director, Information) Imteeaz Kacho, outgoing Executive Officer, Shafqat Ali Khan; Executive Officer, MC-Leh, Stanzin Rabgyas, Accounts Officer, MC-Kargil, Shabbir Hussain, other guests as well as staff of MC-Kargil.
    On the occasion, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, congratulated the outgoing Executive Officer on his retirement after completing thirty eight years of dedicated service with honesty.
    The Director said that Shafqat Ali Khan’s behaviour towards his staff and others has always remained cordial and he was always committed to his professional responsibilities.
    The Director further said that during Shafqat Ali Khan’s five-year tenure as Executive Officer in MC-Kargil, significant projects aimed at enhancing urban municipal infrastructure were conceptualized and started which are nearing completion. These include the 24/7 water supply system, a solid waste management plant, a sewage treatment plant, the truck terminal and the slaughter house. The Director further wished prosperity and health to the outgoing Executive Officer.
    While sharing his thoughts and experiences, Administrator, MC-Kargil Imteeaz Kacho said that his association with Shafqat Ali Khan was short but very productive and enriching. While commending his humility, accessibility and contributions, Kacho said that MC-Kargil achieved new heights under his leadership.
    Shafqat Ali Khan’s behaviour towards the staff of MC-Kargil remained very cordial all the while, he added. He thanked the guests and staff of MC-Kargil for making the farewell event a grand success.
    Kacho further said that Shafaqat Ali Khan’s work speaks for itself and he will be remembered for his high spirits and wished him the best for his future endeavours.
    In his address, the outgoing Executive Officer said that in his thirty eight years of service, he has never come across senior officers and colleagues who were as prompt, supportive and humble in nature as those he has worked with in recent times. He thanked MC-Kargil for showering him with immense love and respect on his superannuation and added that whatever he achieved is because of the support of dedicated officers and field staff of Kargil.
    Shafqat Ali Khan also shared his experiences of working in different districts of Kashmir and in Kargil.
    He extended his gratitude to Director, ULB, and his staff for coming all the way from Leh to attend the farewell and also thanked the Department and Directorate for timely completion of his pension documents.
    Executive Officer, MC-Leh, Tashi Rabgyas also spoke on the occasion. He said that , despite limited resources, Kargil Town has developed substantially under Shafqat Ali Khan’s leadership. While extending best wishes to him, he said that Shafqat Ali Khan’s will be disheartening for MC-Kargil.
    On the occasion, Accounts Officer, MC-Kargil, Shabbir Hussain; Project Engineer, Mohammad Abbas; Senior Assistant, Mohammad Jaffar as well as Shafqat Ali Khan’s son, Ilyas Khan also shared their experiences and association with Shafqat Ali Khan.
    Pertinently, under Shafqat Ali Khan’s leadership, MC-Kargil received various national awards. During his tenure, he served at various locations across Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir including Kargil, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Magam and Tral.
    Later, the outgoing Executive Officer was felicitated with souvenirs and gifts by the dignitaries along with staff of MC-Kargil. The proceedings of the event were conducted Murtaza Fazily of DIPR-Kargil.
