    GDC Kargil hosts seminar on implementation of New Criminal Laws in India.
    Kargil, July 01, 2024: Seminar/Debate & Culture Committee of Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil today organized a one-day seminar on the topic of “Implementation of Three New Criminal Laws in India,” the program was hosted by Taira Bano, Assistant Professor, Department of English.
    The seminar was aimed to educate and engage students and faculty about the recent legal changes set to be implemented across the country from July 01, 2024.
    The event commenced with a welcome speech by Padma Wangchuk, In charge Principal, Department of Zoology, GDC Kargil. His address highlighted the importance of understanding the new laws and their implementation.
    The seminar featured distinguished guest speakers: Kacho Manzoor Ali Khan (Senior Advocate) Pebal Lawyer DLSA Kargil and Syed Mehdi Aga (Deputy Chief Defense Counsel) Kargil.
    Kacho Manzoor Khan provided an in-depth knowledge on several critical sections including Section 2, 22, 109, 193, and 302, as well as laws concerning women’s rights, the victim compensation scheme, the Evidence Act, and the concept of Zero FIR, among others. Kacho Manzoor Khan and Syed Mehdi Aga engaged in an interactive session where they addressed various queries from faculty and students, fostering a lively and informative dialogue.
    The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Thinless Chondol, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.
    Following this, Assistant Professors Archo and Azra facilitated a question-answer session, quiz competition and a group discussion, respectively, allowing participants to further explore and understand the new legal framework.
    The seminar was a resounding success, providing valuable insights into the new laws and their practical implications, thereby equipping attendees with the knowledge to navigate the evolving legal landscape.
